Due to circumstances beyond our control...

I recently discovered that I had lost something. Something very near and dear to my heart. It was my sense of humor and my joy. Without those things, my life was not the same. Without those things, I could not truly function. I was just going through the motions needed to get through my day. Any laughter was fake, any smile a disguise. The reason for this, a faulty system that was allowing my wife to suffer needlessly. A political system that I could not and still can not fight effectively. The feelings of hopelessness, uselessness and anger took over my entire world. I lived to fight and really nothing else.

The realization of the loss I had suffered came to me from the strangest place. My wife found a sticker with a little saying on it. It simply read, "Some people are like Slinky's - totally useless but they do bring a smile to your face when you push them downstairs." The properness and taste of the sticker can be debated later. My first thought upon seeing it was that I could think of several folks that deserved to be flung downstairs. I had a mental image of it. Ideas raged in my head of how to get revenge on those that have wronged my family. Everything I saw in the news about the crap going on in Washington only served to spur on these thoughts. I would get this fixed someway, somehow.

As the days wore on, I thought back to that sticker. I saw it every day because it sat on my desk at work. It brought a smile to my face still. Only the reason for the smile had slowly begun to change. When I saw it, more and more the thoughts of the giver overtook the thoughts of who deserved to rediscover gravity. While my wife may have had the same thoughts I did at first about the message, that was not the reason she gave it to me. Her gift was just a simple little way to say that she loved me. Something to make me smile and think of why I married her.

The message behind this little diatribe is this. Do not let what you can't control take over your life. What is happening in Washington these days is bad. We will all pay the price of what the voters of the last hundred years have left us with. It isn't going to be pretty, it's going to hurt like hell to fix and the entire Country may turn upside down. BUT, you can not let the fight take over your life. You must keep a firm grip on what you are fighting for. When the fight becomes your reason for being, it's time to get out for awhile. I'm not saying in any way to quit. Keep up the emails, letters, protests, calls, everything your doing. Just go home at night, really go home. If you lose sight of what and who your fighting for, you become a liability. That is when Obama and Pelosi are correct in calling us a mob and extremists. They win then.

Find your own sticker. Look at your family. Rent a Mel Brooks or Monty Python movie. Buy a slinky and push it downstairs. Smile for a bit and remember what it is that you are fighting for. Make sure you keep a firm grip on your joy.

Not so much.....

The first phrase that a Liberal will use to defend Obama is always, "well, were you better off under Bush". The answer is a resounding YES! Please for the love of God do not get the idea that I think Bush was all that great. It's just that Obama's first year since election has been, shall we say so unique.

Iraq bad, Afghanistan good. That's the mantra of the left during the entire duration of the war on terror. Yes I said it, the war on terror. The folks doing the bombings and shootings know who and what they are. They are doing exactly what they want to accomplish. Causing terror in the minds of others. They are doing exactly what their job description says. Washington on the other hand.... Mr. President, if you are going to support the war in Afghanistan, then support it. Quit holding meetings to see if we need a study on whether to form a panel to say if we need a hearing to have a troop surge. We are either in or out, just pick one.

"I inherited this mess". Yes you did. You sought it out. You asked and begged for it. You spent a whole lot of money to assure that you got it. So deal with it! "Pass my stimulus or unemployment will hit 10%". Guess where we are at Mr. President. But wait there's more! Now we're up to our kids' eye balls in debt to boot! What a bargain!

Have I got a deal for you! I can sell you this car for a song! How about "Two out of Three Ain't Bad", by Meatloaf. The two companies that Obama "saved" have declared bankruptcy. Ford those dirty double dealers, underhandedly didn't take any money and look where they are at! At least Obama can take credit for making those Japanese auto companies happy with his "cash for clunkers".

How about that environment. I do believe that the last year of warming is still 1998. Those nutty Polar Bears are still increasing their numbers. I do realize that there are still bears dying from lack of food. Could it be that the same amount of food, plus more bears is a bad thing? I'm sure that the power from windmills and solar panels will be seen shortly. Maybe just as soon as they can figure out how to make them cost effective. But hey, folks did get put back to work making them for awhile. Now if only there was a market for them other than the Government.

Wall Street is rebounding. That's good! The dollar is tanking. That's bad! Hey, what's that coming over that next rise! Oh that's only double digit inflation. Move along, nothing to see here. I have to wonder how many jobs have been created or saved in the printing industry. People must be pretty tired from running the presses 24/7 to make all the extra cash being spit out. At least Ink makers local 37 is doing OK. We should keep an eye on the clock makers too. Those National Debt Clocks have been running pretty hard lately. I'm sure they won't last much longer.

The Constitution? Aww that old thing. We'll blow the dust off it on Holidays and when we need a good laugh. Those nutty Founders, thinking they could form a Government.

Isn't it a grand thing that all those Communists and Marxists are getting the chance to sleep in the Lincoln bedroom. Just goes to show you we really are the land of the free. At least for now. Why is that Gieco music playing in my head???

Last but not least, Health Care. Ah, just forget it and pass the aspirin. I do have to ask though. Will Dr. Kevorkian's services be available?

Government Mismanagement

Currently, my wife is stuck in the middle of Workman's Comp purgatory. The County she is employed by has apparently decided that the increased cost of insurance is not worth the amount of pain she has currently lived through. Even though it's been six months almost to the day she has had to endure it. Even though every Doctor she has been sent to has agreed she she needs surgery, they stall. It doesn't matter that the independent medical review they sent her to proved this was in no way a pre-existing condition, they delay. All this to save a few more of the once almighty dollar. This is just at the County level, can you imagine what it will be like if the Health Care system goes national?????

It has been said to death that there will be no "Death Panels". How can you trim costs without cutting services? It is also said that you can keep your Doctor and current plan. That's going to be a neat trick since so many Doctors have said they will quit if this goes through. With the Government plan having no profit motives, how can any other insurer compete and stay in business? The most telling statement coming out of DC is that this bill will be deficit neutral. Anyone really believe that????

Bottom line, the Government can not earn money! It can only take through taxes and fees. So long as there is one drop on red ink on any of the books in DC, nothing is deficit neutral. While there just may be the slightest chance that this Congress has finally found the answer of how to pass a bill that does not add red ink, I highly doubt it. That has been the Holy Grail of every Congress since the dawn of America. I personally would bet on the Lions to win the Super Bowl before I would bet on Congress to pass a bill that comes in on budget.

The only possible way to control costs with a national system is if everyone is in it. Every Doctor and Hospital would have to agree to take what Washington is will to pay them. There would be no room competition in plans because any undercutting of prices would drive people out of the system. The less people paying into the system, the less money can go out of it.

Of course there would have to be more healthy people than sick. Sick people will drag down the utopia that has been formed. Kind of like Social Security, we all know how well that is doing. Is that system deficit neutral? We'd all just have to make sacrifices to keep healthy. Bye, bye Hostess. See ya later Sara Lee. Hershey's, we'll just have to get you some professional help ASAP! Hang on a sec though. What will all those lost jobs from us cutting back do to the income DC is expecting????

I know, I'm a malcontent. I'm just part of the mob using hateful speech to get my little, unimportant opinion across. OK, I promise to stop using the basic math and English skills I was given in my Public School education for evil. I will try to live up to this promise just as soon as Congress really tries to be deficit neutral.

The loss of the individual

There is a very important animal in this country that needs to be added to the endangered species list, the individual. A person, with self worth, self importance and a clear understanding of who he or she is. They are not endangered due to anything they are doing, it's Washington that's on a hunting spree.

How many times have you heard or read a story about someone being "lost in the system", or among the "forgotten". Why does this happen? Why in the age of cell phones and Internet are people still being left behind and forgotten? It's because of Government, Government "help" and "intervention". The Government can not and will not help the individual. Why would it, it's only one vote amongst millions.

The easiest way for politicians to "see" us is to put us in easily managed and categorized groups. Race, age, sex, political party, east coast, west coast, middle America, the list is endless. The old line about not seeing the forest for the trees is backwards in today's environment. No one in any position of any level of Government can see that the forest is made up of the individual trees.

Most of the "cracks" that people fall into are made by Washington's own hand. For the good of a group, DC enacts a new law that will improve every one's lives. They tend to forget that most groups are a very small percentage of the total population. Yet their "help" effects the whole. They also tend to forget or ignore that it's very hard to really nail anyone down into a specific "this is what they are" group. People are an amalgam of their personal, unique life experiences. While you may be for saving the Blind Bald headed Badger from extinction, you know that for the sake of the many the factory that will save your town has to go in their mating grounds. Politicians love writing 1000 page bills that by their own admission they don't read yet are for the trees. Heck, Al Gore refuses to quit eating meat, Mr. Environment himself. Google it if you don't know what I'm talking about there. I can just imagine the headaches that a Black female Hispanic Jew that has switched religions to become a Catholic and has gender issues would cause. It could be fun to watch some heads explode trying to categorize her.

Lets take Health Care. Using Washington's own, overinflated number there are 47,000,000 in this Country without Health Care. Sounds like a large number and I'll admit it is. The reality though is that even at that level, it is only approximately 14% of the population. Washington's logic though is that the whole system is junk because of that 14% and we need to start over. They don't care that 86% already have Health Care and most are happy with it. You can find the "happiness factor" even reflected in their own polls. On a personal level, I really don't care if illegals are happy with their coverage or not. Those in DC really don't care that their "new and improved" system will cause those with good coverage to have to convert to something less. "Sorry, the life saving treatment is not allowed." "To bad, last year you could have gotten it."

The one size fits all coverage we will all be forced into eventually really fits no one. For those that do not want coverage to save money, you will have to pay a fine if they don't take it. For those that have coverage, it will be a downgrade. Yes, those with no health care will get something out of it. They will now have to deal with the headaches the rest of us do. Trying to figure out how to get done what you want with the coverage you have. For those here illegally, GO HOME! The one part of all this we all get though, is that we will end up paying more money for coverage. Maybe not directly through up front payments. When you add in all the new taxes and fees that will be reflected back on us it will add up quickly. Show of hands, how many of you know that there will be a new tax on everyday medical products. Band aids, tampons, etc...., everything.

The individual needs to be recognised for what he(or she) is. An American. An American that counts and that has a voice that needs to be heard. They do not need to be labeled as a malcontent, or categorized as an unruly mob if there happens to be more than one person with the same point of view. Mr. President, Madam Speaker and the rest of you in DC, I am an American individual with a voice and I demand to be heard.

Can a Conservative fight the system and retain his morals and values? My wife was injured on the job by a drunk driver in May of this year. The lady that hit her will be eligible to get her license back before my wife will be able to get her surgery. She is an employee of Wood County Ohio. From day one, the County has has been guilty of using delay tactics, not returning phone calls, withholding information and lying. After four and a half months of fighting to get surgery scheduled to get a bulging disk removed that is pressing against the nerve that runs down her right arm, we are still waiting in the County to approve it. Workers Comp has approved it after we waded, mostly on our own, through the maze of paperwork. The County still has not acted.

Were I a Democrat, we would have many outlets from which to seek help from. The ACLU, ACORN, SEIU and a host of talk shows come to mind. Who can a Conservative turn to and retain his morals and values. According to our workers comp lawyer, there is a law in place that does not allow suits to be filed against an employer over a compensation claim. We are of course seeking other council to confirm this. I have to ask, how can an employer do everything in their power stall the process without some firm guidelines in place of how they should act. Without some form of reprisal from the victims they are totally at their mercy.

I have to ask again, can a Conservative get help on an issue like this without compromising his values? I would sell my soul to take this pain from my wife, do I have to?

To boldly go where......

First off, for the sake of openness and honesty I must admit to the fact that I'm Caucasian. Therefore, everything I write from this point on is immediately racist in the eyes of the media and most of D.C.. It really isn't, just the consequence of being born in the wrong gene pool to apparently give opinion on this subject.

If Joe Wilson is guilty of being racist, why has it not been racism when a person of color has called George Bush a liar for the last eight years? How about any time in history a person of color has called any President a liar, was that racism? Jimmy Carter has gone record stating that Wilson's remarks were racist. Has Jimmy ever met the man? Does he have any evidence to support his statement? It has been a week since Joe uttered his words at the joint session. Have you noticed any media outlet citing proof that Joe is a racist? The last Joe to confront the President was torn to shreds by the MSM. Job history, tax records and personal information was all over the news within days after Joe the plumber posed his question. Surely if there was any evidence of Wilson's racism, at least hints would have been offered by now. I will go so far however as to admit that Wilson's outburst was out of line as to the venue and time.

I'm sorry to any I may offend by saying this. It is possible to disagree, call a liar or even not like someone without being racist. I offer as proof the following. I hold President Obama, Pelosi, Reid, Frank, Spector, Dodd and Snowe all in a special place in my heart equally. I have never met anyone of them, so I do not hate them personally. I have no evidence that they are truly bad people. I do however, hate their views and positions on issues and policies. I have historical data in the form of their own words to back up my position there. That is my opinion. It has at least the same if not more proof attached to it then the opinions of Jimmy Carter and the MSM. What proof that Wilson is a racist do they have to back their opinion? As further proof I offer this, I gain nothing by writing this. No pay what so ever. I do however leave myself open to the slings and arrows that could be thrown by those of differing opinions. What do I have to gain by writing this.

Is there racism in this Country? YES! No question about it! It would not take much looking to find it. One thing though, I must point out that racism knows no color. It comes from any and every possible direction. It is not however, as prevalent as the MSM and those with agendas try to make out to be. Those with agendas are using it as a method of distracting the public from the real points of contention. Please don't fall for it. Look past the arrogant crowd crying wolf and see what they are trying to hide.

Why is it so hard to live by the Golden Rule. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Nice, simple words to live by. Lets try it for a bit, maybe we'll find that we like it. Just ignore the MSM and their "if it bleeds, it leads" motto. Let them fade away into their own hype and half truths.

Truth or Consequences

Let's play a game. Guess what, you don't have a choice. We're all playing truth or consequences whether we want to or not. The consequences are about to begin, we're way past the truth.

For decades both sides have been yelling at the other over the same lies. The lies are slightly different on each side, but pretty much end at the same result. The Right tries to stand on a platform of small government, family values and fiscal responsibility. How's that working for ya? Ever not see a President not let the government grow in some way? Those pesky sex scandals can get annoying can't they. Then there's TARP. Nuff said on that. The left promises equality, security in your later years and jobs for all. Please tell me any race these days that is not pissed off. That retirement looming ahead of you isn't looking to rosy right now is it. Jobs, how are they not working for you.

Both sides promise over and over again that they are going to fix things, yet things just keep getting worse. When do we say "Enough"! Why do we keep putting the same people in power thinking "this time they really mean it". If you do find a congressman trying, I mean really trying, he's not long for the political arena. In the next election, his opponent will just point out how ineffective he's been and probably convince enough morons that he's the man for the job. Most likely, the newbie will just become a lap dog for the old boy's network of whichever side he calls himself.

Americans voted for "Hope and Change" last election. The "masses" are getting so desperate for any relief that they will believe any fish oil salesman that can get face time on the local news. Well here we are, just 8 little months into Obama's Presidency and already the hope has pretty much faded away. The only change we're seeing is the speed of destruction. No, McCain wouldn't have been much better. At least with him, Palin would have been riding the brakes as hard as she could. With no one riding the breaks, we've got to make tough decisions real fast. No one will be left out. If you choose not to pick a side, sacrifices will be made in your name by the government for you. Pick a side and you just may reach that light at the far end of the tunnel.

We must, as a whole, demand from the White House and Congress that we are not only heard, but listened to as well. Demand that your elected officials be of the highest moral quality. Past associations count a lot. People can grow out of phases in their life, but you have to make sure they have grown. Our President is the best example of this. Ayres, Wright, ACORN, Van Jones and Davis should have at least raised a question or two about Obama's values. Every one of them have views that fundamentally go against the Constitution and Bill of Rights. These were the influences of his past. Has he changed? Did he disavow any of them? No! Yet some are surprised at the direction he's steering us.

Please, for the love of Country, vote out any who show less than moral character. Any that vote for a bill that has not been read, they need to go ASAP. Those that vote against the majority will of their constituents should never, ever get a vote. Remember, you may be on the winning side now, but how long before they turn on you too. Attend a tea party or town hall. If all you get is double talk, talked down to or laughed at, take them down with your vote. They work for us! They need to fear us!

I'm saying all this now, a year early in most peoples minds, because local elections are looming. The locals of today are the "Big Dogs" of tomorrow. They need to learn their places now, before they are in a position to do real damage. The consequences of the actions of our past are about to slap us in the face, hard! Lets mitigate the future generations damage potential while we can.

Mr President,
I would like to go on the record as being offended by your turning a horrible day in American history into a campaign issue. 9-11 should be left out of any type of political agenda anyone has. It should be left as a day of remembrance of the 2,993civilians, police and fireman that perished that day. If you feel you must have a National day of Service, please choose any other day. Let Americans mourn the dead and remember that sad day with dignity.

I give up, you tell me

Will the real Barack Obama please stand up. Our President is either a Mad Genius, an inept flunky working for clueless leaders or the most arrogant man ever to sit in the big chair.

Barack Obama's rise to power is remarkable, can't take that from him. Moving from graduating law school in 1991 to the Illinois State Senate in 1996. 8 years later running and winning the seat in the Senate. Onto the campaign trail in '07 and taking the White House in '08. Quite the leap in such a short time. He did this because of his great speaking ability. Under the right circumstances, he can arguably be ranked up with the greatest public speakers of our day. The right circumstances being a written and studied text. Off the cuff, not so much. What baffles me so much is how can a man "from" the people understand them so little and have no idea how to talk to them unprepared.

Sure he replaced an unpopular President. Bush was disliked by folks from both parties for various reasons. Barack managed to build a base from almost all those dislikes. The war, the economy and overspending caused a massive conversion from the middle. The sometimes "ham handling" of America by Bush was a major platform of Barack's against "Bush Lite", McCain. Then, after winning, what's the first thing he does? He completely cheeses off at least a quarter of his recent converts with the stimulus. Anyone with even an ounce of fiscal conservatism in them saw the massive damage with little return heading right for their Grandchildren.

The Stimulus, while painful to his support base was not fatal to his popularity. All during the stimulus crap he was busy trying to fill Cabinet positions. Could he possibly do a worse job of picking people. How many folks nominated had not forgotten to pay taxes, taken bribes or cheated on spouses? Why, oh why would you propose a man to head the Treasury that couldn't even sign over a check given him for his taxes with to cover his taxes? Just the fact that he "forgot" to pay to pay should be reason enough to doubt him being "the only man that can fix the economy". By the way Timmy, ever fill those empty offices yet? Surely there are some CPA's out there that can pay their taxes, add and believe in your system.

Next onto Cap and Trade. The bill that will save the world from the evils of Global Cooling. Oops, wrong decade. Save the world from Global Warming. Oops, wrong decade again. Save the world from the evils of Climate Change. Could it possibly be that the simple fact that they can't make up their minds on which direction we're going and that other planets are doing the same thing show a few flaws in the "science"? Pretty much everyone agrees that we need to clean this pig sty up a bit, but come on, killing our economy in the process is a bit much.

Now onto the big ape hanging onto the side of Barack's Empire State Building, Health Care. Yes our system needs work, but don't throw the baby out with the bath water. It's going to be just like, better, not at all the same as England's, Canada's and France's. Forget the bill hiding behind the curtain, HR 3200. Barack's plan is nothing like that. Nothing in that bill is in Barack's plan. Ah, Mr. President, HR 3200 is the only bill on the table. "Your" bill has not seen the light of day in any written form. Shouldn't you at least have some basics jotted down on a White House napkin by now? Be kind of nice since the House, that your people control, tried to shove a plan through before the August break.

As Americans we ask little of our elected officials. A bit to little apparently by the fix we find ourselves in now. There are Congressman, Democrats mostly (this time around) insulting the general public anytime they get face time on the news. Anyone that dares ask a question is immediately fitted for a target. Simple questions for the most part. "Did you read the bill" and "how much is this going to cost" are grounds for the death penalty with some in DC. One of our fine Rep's even said it was beneath her to talk to the people that got her into office. We're all Nazi's according to Ms. Pelosi. Even though there may be one or two around, should you really take the risk of calling everyone that speaks up one? Is there a chance you could really offend a few Jews and Poles in the crowd. Lets not forget Barney Frank. The fine upstanding Gentleman that assured us all that Freddy and Fannie were in excellent shape just a year or two before they brought the whole system down. A bit of advice Mr. Frank, during the middle of trying to fix a collapse, do not say we need to do more of what started it.

At the risk of being targeted, I have to ask. Who's in charge? Is it Barack, is he the Mad genius running the show. Is all going according to plan and we're headed to the America that Obama dreams of? Everything being done, with the force of a freight train, is killing America. Is this what he wants?

Maybe he's just an inept flunky following a poorly laid plan. To many chiefs maybe? A few to many people trying to get a seat at the table of power? Add in the obvious trouble with the minions union and things look like it couldn't possibly be less organized. No matter what they are trying to do, at least try to use the same playbook. If they could have at least avoided half the stupid sound bites coming out of DC, they would be well on their way to what they want. Spanky and Our Gang put on better productions then Obama's crew.

Is it that he can't keep that disgusted look off his face when things don't go exactly as he planned. The very air around him seems to freeze when someone asks an unscripted question, makes a statement that questions his approach or dare I say it, SAYS HE'S WRONG! How dare we question the wise and wonderful Barack. I guess even typing this paragraph makes me a racist these days. Arrogance, thy name is Barack.

Mr. President, or Mr. President's Boss. Please take an hour or two and sit down with your Czars, cabinet heads and party chairmen to come up with a plan. If helping America is your goal, then stick to a cogent plan. If your plan is to destroy America, your doing a wonderful job. The flip side of the coin is that your awakening the masses to everything wrong in DC. I guess I should thank you for that. I believe you will go down in the history books as the President that changed America. It just may not be in the light you think it will be.

The real pledge

Mr. President. I recently caught your new pledge. In a word, it sucks. How about we just bring this oldie but goody back.

I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all

Just for fun, how about checking out the best version of it ever recorded.

I am an American

I am an American. The product of over two hundred years of sacrifice, hard work and patriotism. Those that would label me anything but, do not know me. In my heart I am a direct descendant of the Founding Fathers. While there may be no common blood, I am still a member of the line. I am a proud student of our history and have a keen eye on the future. I am from all races yet a member of one family.

I am an American. I show my loyalty to my country through my actions and words. I am the one called on to do the heavy lifting needed to keep our country working. I ask for little in return, just the freedom to be who I am.

I am an American. I can be hard as steel yet soft as a Mothers soothing touch. I can strike as quick as lightning either in retribution or aid with equal prowess. My capacity for mercy and charity know no bounds. I am resilient and will hold to my values no matter the situation.

I am an American. Those who oppose me look through eyes clouded with jealousy, envy and a fear of freedom. Those who would change me do so with the ignorance of my full potential.

I am an American. While I welcome debate, I abhor dictation. I will not stand idly by while a change to our very foundation is attempted, it will not be accepted. For far to long I've been silent or unheard. I will be quiet and ignored no longer. Silence me and there are many who will tell my story.

I am an American. This is my country, a great gift given me by my fathers. I will protect it and care for it as if it were my own child. If raised with the values set forth in the greatest documents of freedom ever written, it's potential for greatness is limitless.

I am an American. I can be your truest friend or your harshest enemy. The choice is yours to make. Know that your choice will not change my views in any way. You are welcome in my country so long as you accept it for what it is meant to be.

I am an American! I was born one. I live as one. And by the grace of God I will die as one!

Who would have thought it? How could this have come to pass? When did such a tiny little word gain so much power. It's only 3 letters long, just one syllable. It can be spoken out loud in front of your Sainted Grandmother without risk of causing offence. Yet it has the power to make even the President stutter and pause. Congressmen run in fear of it or defend against it with evasion and personal attacks. How has this little word become our greatest weapon?

As a child, you probably used it a lot. More than likely it was one of your first questions. If a child can use it, just how dangerous can it be? It's hard to use it in anger. You can cry it to the heavens in rage, but at someone, it's more with disappointment than anything else if there's any emotion attached to it. Today though, spoken in the right venue it can do more damage than a nuke.

There has to be a reason that the word is feared in Washington. Is it that they just don't know and are afraid of appearing foolish? Could it be just that the mere suggestion that they have to answer is offensive to them? Is there a chance that they know that we just wouldn't like the answer. I think it's mostly the latter.

Thomas Jefferson said "Experience hath shewn, that even under the best forms of government those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny." He was right. When asking "why" can cause you to be called an "Extremest", aren't we on the edge of tyranny?

Question everything coming out of Washington. Believe nothing told you without confirmation. Voltaire said, "Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities". Use the weapons we have at our disposal. The truth, the Constitution and most importantly, ask why.

The dark alleys of the wandering mind

When there is a slow day at work your mind tends to wander a bit. I started thinking about the direction we're all heading in and it scared the hell out of me.

Look back with me to a time when the Founders were heroes. Flags flew from every pole and porch. Every child could quote at least a bit the writings of Jefferson, Payne and Franklin. I'm speaking about 1976, the bicentennial. Just 33 years ago, American pride was running rampant. Pamphlets, books, TV specials and movies of every kind were touting the greatness of America and it's Founders. How great was the gift given us by their work. Any dissension was kept to basements, student unions and dark coffee houses. Fingers were pointed and laughter could be heard when they were found. Anyone buying copies of Marx's, Lenin's or Mao's writings were "just going through a phase", or "just doing research". Parents and neighbors were saying that "they'd grow out of it", "what harm can it do"or "they'll come around".

Instead of growing out of it, they organized. They did come around, at least in appearance. They became pillars of their communities. They became organizers and activists. Some started companies or got into politics. Nothing got done without there being at least some input from them. Slowly the tide started turning. The work started by Teddy, Woodrow and Franklin was back in style and taken to the next degree.

Now these people have control of both Houses and the White House. The push to finish the job has been pushed into high gear. Anyone quoting the Founders is labeled an extremest and ridiculed. Anyone paraphrasing Marx and Mao are called profound and worldly. I say paraphrase because you still can't mention the names out loud, for now. The teachings though, divine gifts of greatness.

My wandering mind then took me to the next step. What if Health Care and Cap and Trade passes. Small business would start to fade out as the tax burden became to great to handle causing a surge in unemployment. Welfare would have to be expanded to keep up with the numbers. Government would have to take over more and more production to keep the country working and moving. Soon, in one way or another, most everyone would rely on Uncle Sam for a good portion of their income.

100 years from now what will the country be like. Will there be a chance that the writings of the Founders will still be allowed? Will there be anything left of the writings of Jefferson or the warnings of Washington in his final address? Is it possible that there will be new groups meeting in basements, student unions and dark coffee shops? Will they be discussing the the ancient history of the founding of America and saying with soft voices that the time has come for a revolution? Now for the scariest part, brace yourself. While the revolution talk is going on, will the country be celebrating the first 100 years of the new America? Will there be pamphlets, books, TV specials and movies about the new founding. Will Obama, Pelosi, Reid, Schumer and Frank be the new founders?

There is an old saying of dubious origins I was reminded of not to long ago. "May you live in interesting times". Whether said as a blessing or a curse, you have to admit that the times are interesting.

I'm Sparticus

Slavery is defined as 1 : drudgery, toil2 : submission to a dominating influence3 a : the state of a person who is a chattel of another b : the practice of slave holding. I think we're there.

Anyone with a job, well almost anyone, can relate to the first part of the definition. As to the second, how can you not call the Federal Government a dominating influence. We're all forced to pay taxes. New and improved laws keep coming down the pipeline that tell us how to live our lives. We're constantly told that we eat the wrong foods, drive the wrong cars, use to much oil and don't give enough to the less fortunate of the world. Even without the prior approval by us, because some group has gathered enough people to vote for it, more and more of our money is taken from us. There are numerous occasions where our taxes that could have been returned to us due to a program ending, are quickly and as quietly as possible shifted to the next latest and greatest program set up for our benefit. Ever forget to pay your taxes? Ever make an error in filing? What happens then? You get a love letter from the Chuck-E-Cheese of Washington, the IRS. The letter is filled with threats of garnishments, seizures and prison sentences. Ever feel like the whack-a-mole game was being played with you as the star? Make a mistake in the other direction and that's where the real kids games start. The did so's and did nots start flying. The mazes set up in the tax code will keep you busy for months. Before it's over your not sure all the hoop jumping was worth it. Every bill has some kind of punishment attached to it for those that would try to resist. With the Secret Service, FBI and U.S. Marshals to back them up, how can anyone get out of line to far without being whipped back. I call that a bit dominating, don't you?

Number three??? Lets see, would that fit? Chattel means "1. Law; An article of movable personal property. 2. A slave. We are defiantly movable. That's proved every time emanate domain is used. Are we property though? Most of you have a Social Security Number. You don't have to have one, just try living without it. A portion of every dime we earn is given to those "above" us to pay for the boons they decide to give us. Those that are "above" us have different rules then we do. We're told what we have to learn. When we can stop working and retire. In many cases, what Doctors we can see and how we can be treated. Our food is controlled by the FDA and by farm subsidies. The FCC controls what we see and hear. To sum up, we can be moved at any time. We're all assigned a number. We pay for the privilege of being taken care of, and what information is given to us is decided by others. Sounds like that fits the word chattel.

We may not be slaves in the traditional sense, but we are slaves none the less. Payment must be given for the right to live to others. The masters may have silver tongues and have been put in place by ourselves, but they are still masters. Those in DC look down at us with contempt and disdain. With a Representative Government, not a Dictatorship, shouldn't we be allowed to speak to our Representatives. Why do they run from us? Shouldn't they represent and listen to those against something as much as those fort it. Why do they attempt to squash any opposition and defame anyone they can personally. The push is on to totally silence the outcry from us chattel. No one is safe from attack.

We all have to speak out. Those that are silenced, must be replaced. Loose the Internet, write letters and pamphlets. Loose the radio, pick up the phone and gather in groups. All must be prepared when the time comes to stand and have your voice heard. Sparticus was a slave that led a revolt back in 73BC. In the movie version, at the end, when the battle was over and his army captured the call went out to bring Sparticus forward. When he stood and declaired himself, one by one all of his men stood and did the same. That's what we need today.

When did it happen

It's weird. One morning I wake up and find out that I'm un-American. Personally I can't figure it out. I've voted in every election since I turned 18. I mean every election, even the special ones with one thing on the ballot. I suppose it could be that I've just been voting the wrong way. I joined the Army right out of High School. Sure, it was during the relative peace of the middle 80's. I guess just joining wasn't American enough, never firing a bullet in defence of my country must disqualify me some how. Most times, close isn't good enough I suppose. I just wish someone would post the standards someplace, I would like to get back in the club.

I thought I was following in Baraks example. You know, going out and getting the community behind fixing the troubles we're having. Heck, I'm not beyond using Baraks own words, "yes we can", "hope and change you can believe in". Hillary even screamed at the top of her lungs not that long ago that it was good and just to speak out. They spent all of 2008 encouraging everyone to take part in rallies and write the President about all the wrongs in America. I do that.

Despite all my efforts I guess I'm a failure. Nancy Pelosi says I'm just part of the "mob", un-American(Rush, if your out there, I'm still waiting on my check). Barak says I'm spreading false information. Man I wish those people would stop writing and posting fake bill in the congressional record! They get me every time. What was I thinking, quoting from a Government document, don't I feel stupid!

I guess I should give up. You win Nancy. Barak, you can rest assured that I will stay out of your America. I'll just take my copy of the Constitution and go play with the other 70% or so that believe in what the Founding Fathers started 233 years ago. I know, living in the past and all that. You keep the Greene's, trial lawyers and union thugs and rename us the United States of France or something. We'll be over to the right side, just doing the little things. Like paying for the impossibly expensive cost of running your Government. We'll just quietly read our propaganda, you know, Common Sense, the Federalist Papers, the founding documents. You've got a lot on your plate these days and don't need the distraction. Turning a country completely from the ideals that founded it, got us into two world wars and brought about the fall of Communism in Russia take a lot.

P.S. BITE ME! Nancy, I'm more American than you will ever be, and can ever be! I AM THE MOB!

Let me get this correct

I don't want to mess up here. According to Nasty Pelosi, it's un-American to protest what you think is an injustice. Billary said back in the day that it's our duty to protest and speak out against un-American things. Who's correct there?

Bush was portrayed as Hitler on a regular basis and it was just hoolairious. Rush points out a similarity between Obama's Health Care seal and a swastika. Brings up the common points of Germany's Health Care of the 30's, and Obama's. Also, he dares to publicly speak out against Obama, and he's the racist.

Do a google search on "Bush Hitler". It's a long list you'll be staring at. 6,780,000results. Try "Obama Hitler", you get a whopping 912,000. Which side did more comparing? Think the "Joker Poster" was unique? Guess what, the Lib's did it first, . You know the funniest thing that the Lib's tossed at Bush. When they compared him to a monkey, my word that's a knee slapper. Want to guess what would happen if you made that same statement about Obama? Bet you'd get more slapped than a knee.

There is nothing new going on here folks. One party is always bashing the other. There probably hasn't been to much of anything original tossed at the Big O. Hay Mr. President, there is one thing you could learn from the man that was in that chair before you. He didn't cry every time someone said something against him.

You folks let me know if we are allowed to speak up about this Health Care crap would ya. I'm waiting to open my Torch and Pitchfork out let store until I find out. Thinking of a buy one, get one sale on feathers when you buy a gallon of tar.

An open letter to Congress

Please copy this letter and send it on to your congressmen and friends to do the same.

An open letter to Congress:

Dear Sir or Madam:

Let this letter serve as both a plea and a warning. We, the American people, have elected you to serve in the positions you now hold by virtue of a majority vote. We elected you to those positions to take care of the aspects of our lives that we are not able to take care of individually. Due to the actions of the self interested, acting alone instead of together, and because we as a people have allowed it, you find yourselves in an untenable position. The events that started us all down the path we are currently traveling were started long ago, by people that were believed to have good intentions at the time. Whether these intentions were honorable can be argued by others at a later date. Now we must deal with the situation at hand.

Currently there are enormous issues to deal with. The economy, unemployment, government and corporate corruption, health care, and the environment are such issues. These issues are intertwined with the economy being the common thread. If the economy fails, the rest are rendered meaningless. We implore you to honestly look at everything before you vote on anything. There are those of you that have personal agendas that are detrimental to the nation, we all know it. We ask that you please set aside any agendas for the time being and take a long honest look at every bill that crosses your desks. The American people are scared and angry now. As a result, they are taking action. Please take advantage of our efforts. We look at every bill that is proposed. We are study analysis and research from across the globe. We find flaws and consequences that go unrepaired. Flaws that you ought to know about in the performance of your duties but choose to ignore. We’ve proven that given even a few hours our capability of interpolation is almost limitless and accurate. Please use us, and not just your largest campaign contributors, as advisors and sounding boards. Please do not pass large, unread bills now for mere political expediency, when there are well known and disastrous consequences down the road.

Know that we chose you with our votes. Those same votes will be used to pass judgment on your performance. Know that we are watching, listening, reading and most importantly talking. Your votes are being counted, weighed and judged. Your words are being written and recorded for posterity. An admission now that you took not the time to read these bills before giving your consent will be recorded for future generations. Your actions are being watched and will be replayed when the consequences of ill-advised legislation come to be borne by our children. Support us, and we will support you. Reject us and we will reject you. Know that any disfavor you may fall into with your parties will not compare with the support we are capable of giving you. We are weary of seeing the arrogance and lack of effort you are currently demonstrating. We are tired of the half truths, spin and lies coming from you daily. The trumped up polls and misdirection you use are no longer working, we know them for what they are. Your frustration with our recent awakening to this is palpable.

You hold our fate in your hands, just as we hold yours. Remember, at some point you will have to face us. You are beholden to your constituents, and we are enraged. Somewhere you will see the faces of those you serve. Look past those impressed by your position and celebrity and find those that know you for who you truly are. The numbers that know your true selves are growing, thanks largely to your own efforts. You are awakening a sense of community in this nation. This community is being formed by people of all parties, age groups and backgrounds. You are welcome to join it or be shunned by it. It’s yours to decide. Please make your future choices wisely.

And the truth will set us free

Is it possible that Obama and his gang of merry men are doing us a favor?

Today, we constantly hear the words Republican, Democrat, Conservative, Liberal, Socialist and Communist tossed about. Many times without any real context or meaning attached to them. How many, especially the under 40 crowd, really know the meanings of those words. There are a lot that can quote the definition from Webster’s or the Urban Dictionary but how much good is that without the proper context. How many have seen the real things, live and in person? Almost everyone in High School can quote Einstein’s theory of relativity, but what to do with it. Fewer will be able to tell you that E=mc² is energy equals mass times the velocity of light in a vacuum squared. An even larger amount would not know where to apply it and how. To know something is not necessarily enough to apply it sometimes.

Everyday, someone somewhere is called a Republican, Democrat, Conservative or Liberal as an insult with contempt and distain. How can being what you are be an insult? Before I get accused of anything, I am a Conservative and know what it means to be one. There are very few in power these days that can be called any of those things though and have it mean anything. The folks in DC have become an amalgam of differing stereotypes and can not be placed neatly into any category. Taken by their true definitions, no one should be insulted by being called any of those terms. A Republican should be a defender of the Republic and a champion of the founding documents. A Democrat should be a hero to the little guy, fighting to be the voice of the forgotten and lost. A Conservative should be fiscally and socially responsible, leery of change and overspending without foreknowledge. Liberals, the other side of the coin know that change is happening all the time and it costs money to keep up out of need. How, at their base are any of those bad? You are what you are, admit it. You’ll feel better and more than likely those around you already know.

It takes all of us to make this nation work. Every one of the 305,000,000 people in this country has their own idea of exactly how it should work, all slightly different. No two people will ever agree on EVERYTHING. It can’t happen; life experiences are unique to everyone. Even identical twins, seeing the same car wreck will have slightly different accounts. Looking from slightly different positions, at different points of the wreck in a different order will cause differences. One may have been looking left, and the other right at the point of impact. One looking at the cars and one at the drivers. Which is more important?

Without the cars OR the drivers there would have been no wreck. Without the land and Government OR the people, there can be no nation. It takes both parties to drive this car of ours. One side keeps money in our pockets and keeps Government as small as possible, the other looks out for the forgotten and those that can’t take care of themselves. Both sides are just as important. Both sides must be willing to see the other point of view, not necessarily see the full value of it, but see it and admit it’s there. Without this vision, the country spins out of control to one side or the other. Both extremes are just as bad. We need the middle for balance.

We need the independents to be that middle to keep the equilibrium between the left and the right. Without the middle, both ends would fall. I personally believe that most in this country fall in the middle, and that is probably a good thing. The problem comes with the lack of knowledge on the issues coming at them from both sides. The MSM feeds the middle sound bites that project THEIR current values and the point of view of whichever side will serve them best. Apathy and the quick, overwhelming rate that the “news” is shoved at all of us have caused a degradation of the middle ground. Who has time to read bills, check facts, and look for similarities in history to base opinions. Both sides know this and use it to their advantage.

No one in power is innocent. Both sides only show what “bullet points” will get them the results they want. Neither will show the possible good or bad coming from the other side or their own. Sacrifices are always unfair when coming from the other camp, but just when coming from theirs. Rarely are they evenly distributed and fair. Even more rarely are they used in the manor with which they were sold as. Despite this “we” keep putting the same people behind the wheel. “We” rant, rave, yell and complain when they don’t listen to our pleas, but then elect the same fools again hoping for a different outcome. Our founders were right. No career legislators. Those that serve must come home and live with the laws they have given to us. Except with the current state of affairs, who wants the microscope turned on them? The spin doctors on both sides can tear anyone apart with little effort using only the “truth”. The “truth” from their point of view.

So where does that leave us. It leaves us vulnerable to attacks from those that would change the very system that has gotten them to the positions they are in now. Those that would change the system to their own version of utopia. The trouble with utopia is that no two person’s idea of it is the same. The very system that let them read study and learns of the wonders of Socialism and Communism is now not good enough for them. They wish to turn this nation into one that would not freely let them see the other side. On paper to the uninformed, Socialism and Communism look great. Everyone equal, everyone sharing the work and burdens. In practice… How can anyone under the age of say 35 have any context to put this in. All they might see if they take the time to look is footage of food lines, artificial shortages, attempted defections that must be propaganda. The news about how America sucks coming from Russia in the day has to be made up. With such a good system in place how could one be unhappy? Surely the borders were closed to keep the undesirables out, not keep the people in. What is not shown to the new fans of socialism is the loss of property, privacy and free will. Those that will be running this new utopia know it. So long as those things exist, the collective will not run smoothly. Any little change will disrupt a very delicate balance and weaken it.

At this time, more than ever we are heading down a path that will change our form of Government. Those that wish to make the change are in power or have people in place that can not or will not see the dangers ahead. This nation is dividing, not in half, but in quarters. Left and right, Republican and Democrat. Up and down, Socialist and American. The left and right are destroying themselves trying to take out the other side. That leaves up and down. Right now we’re top heavy. The spin doctors from the Socialist corner have taken over the MSM in most forms and have made the left and right ineffectual by egging on the fight between them. That leaves the base to save this land.

The base shifted on its axis this past election out of despair and lack of anything better. The base, while the backbone of this country, has a tendency to be spineless. Those that keep this country moving along have little time and desire to “play” politics. They want to be left alone to live their lives with as little interruption as possible. In my mind, the only way to get them back to the right side is to tell them the truth. Not just our truth, but the real pure truth. We need to stop playing the game. The game is about over anyway, we lost, accept it. We lost because we were playing their game, by their ever changeable rules. Time for some new dice and a new game board. The new rules will have to be well established and simple. Tell the truth. The whole truth and nothing but the truth. The kind of truth that leaves nothing for the spinners to work with. Say what you mean and mean what you say. Let all sides in on the new rules, if they want to play by them, WONDERFUL! If they don’t , they lose. Lets give the middle the sound bites they crave so much, but be honest with them. If the other side comes up with a good idea, give them credit. If there are harmful aspects, point them out, just do it honestly.

Obama, Pelosi, Reed, Frank, Dodd and all the rest have done us a huge favor. If left alone, we would have become a Socialist nation in the relative near future. It’s where we’ve been heading for the last 100 years without much resistance. With the speed and brute force that is applied to every bill coming down the pike these days, folks can’t help but wake up. When they do wake, they notice that the light at the end of the tunnel is really a freight train heading right for them. What responses do they get when they question those in power these days? “You just wouldn’t understand”, “I’ll get back to you”, “We’ve got a team of experts telling us different”. Arrogance, appeasement, and distain over having to deal with the “commoners” are their only responses. This is working in our favor.

The “commoners” are getting more and more pissed with every evasion, half truth and outright lie. The fire being lit by Obama and company is burning out of control. We need a controlled burn to get it going in the proper direction. The mob needs led down the right streets. Not with equal or greater force, that will only make those in the middle angrier and running to anyone offering some kind of stability. We have to be that stability. The only weapon in our arsenal that will work is the truth. It is the only weapon that will not work for those trying to make the changes because it will appear hollow when shown in the light.

Show people the truth, don’t push it on them. Give people information; don’t shove it down their thoughts. Plant the seeds and step back, they will grow. Those on the fence and the uninformed will come around. As they do, those that were further out will slowly move over to take their place trying to see what they must be missing. We can bring this country back. Keep the truth in your hearts, it will guide us back.

How much can we take

What’s it going to take folks? At what point do we finally realize that we’re nearing the bottom of the abyss we’ve been sinking into. Sure there are pockets of resistance popping up. Sure the phone lines and emails for the folks in congress are clogging up more often. The awakenings of more and more people out of the national coma we’ve all been in is a wonderful sign. BUT, there are still far too many left to rouse before the damage is irreversible.

I’m sure most of you know of the boiling frog analogy. If you drop a frog into boiling water, it will jump back out. If you place that same frog in a pot of cool water and slowly bring the temperature under it, the frog will sit there and slowly cook to death. Back in 1905, Teddy Roosevelt took a sidestep away from the Constitution by taking State and privet land to start the National Park System. We all like trees and parks! Sure save them from greedy people that would only exploit and destroy them for their own selfish schemes. The Constitution says a little something about that, check it out, it’s a good read. Teddy bought the stove.

A few years later, a dark cloud hovered over the world. WWI had Europe turned upside down. Woodrow Wilson took a hold of the reins of America and turned it a new direction. Wilson saw the opportunity to really get his “Progressive” movement rolling. It’s a movement that is based on the belief that the Government can take care of our problems better then we can ourselves. Poor us, we can’t possibly understand our lives and situation as well as someone we’ve never met. There was much discord over the changes coming and the war. To help us out, Wilson started the Committee on Public Information. Our first organized propaganda unit, ain’t we proud we beat Hitler to it. The Palmer Raids netted a total of 50,000 arrests in 1918 alone for not believing what the Government was selling them. Around 175,000 total by the end of his term. A few that really cheesed Wilson off languished in jail until the next administration came in. Wilson grabbed a hold of the frog.

The next great seer to occupy the office was none other than Franklin Delano Roosevelt. A man obviously more important that even our First Father, George Washington. Old Frank decided that it was right to run over and over again. Find Washington’s reply when he was BEGGED to stay on the job. With the Country in the throws of the Great Depression, Frank, rather than looking into ancient history (a whole decade earlier) to find answers decided to start the largest expansion of Government since the founding to fix things. All done out of love of Country, the Country he’d like to rule over and live in. With a whole alphabet to choose from, why stop short of your goals. His new government now included the WPA, NRA (not the one you think), AAA (same deal), FDIC, TVA, SEC, NRLB and the now infamous Social Security. As with Wilson, anyone who got in his way was labeled a Nazi lover or a good friend of Adolph’s to quiet them. Just think of what old Rham would think of this two-fer, WWII and a depression at the same time. Talk about not letting a good crisis go to waste. Frank put the frog in the pot and lit the fire.

During the following decades, each and every President chucked another log on the fire. Either by his own hand or by allowing Congress to do it. Every man to hold the highest office in the land has had an agenda or pet project he wanted to complete to make his legacy stand throughout time. At some point during their tenure, each sold out a bit of their morals or values to make their own deal with the devil (or Congress, their pretty much interchangeable). Prove me wrong! Many will argue about Ike and the poster child of the modern Republican party, Ronald Reagan. They did it to a lesser degree, but it was still done in the name of getting something more important. Fires getting hot!

Over the last nine years, the lines between the parties have been almost completely erased. We’ve had two wars going that could easily be argued against (not in my opinion, but I can see the arguments). These brought us the Patriot Act, a bill to important to even wait for the ink to dry. Meanwhile, Al Gore managed to win a Nobel Prize and an Oscar. Ever think you’d see those two awards given to the same person for the same reason, Junk Science! Every member of congress must be a true believer or really afraid of Al. Each and every one of them has tried to put some kind of climate attachment on a bill since then. Whether it was related to the bill at hand or not.

These same Congressmen (hate being PC), who ranted, raved and pointed every finger possible at Bush for oil prices must have had a change of heart. Due to the Stimulus (another bill to important to read) and the Cap and Trade (ditto), the latest bill to save the world despite it’s self, oil prices will go through the roof. The future price of fuel will be far higher that anything seen under Bush. I guess under Bush it was greed, now it’s out of love for Al and Mother Earth. Water’s pretty much boiling now.

Next on the agenda is Health Care. Once again the Government knows us better then we know ourselves. They feel they can know when it’s best to see our doctors better then we can. Fines will be levied if you don’t play along by the way. I know, we have to take care of the poor. Just because hospitals can’t turn them away and programs are not being used, we need more. Stimulus money is going to advertising in some states that have programs that are not “attracting” enough users to justify their own existence. Lets just get this thing shoved through before it’s to late. You know what’s next don’t you folks, amnesty! Oh boy, a whole big bunch of new folks to help! Going to need a pot holder to get this puppy off the stove now.

For those that may have missed my little (very little) running gag, we’re the frog and it’s getting pretty hot. But wait, there’s more to come! With the sub prime bubble burst and all the baggage it brought down with it the fuel for the “don’t let a good crisis go to waste” fire is stacked beyond reach. They say those who do not read history are doomed to repeat it. Guess what Barney Frank wants to do. He wants to try all over again with the sub primes, BRILLIANT! The only folks these days with job security are the folks that make the paper and ink our money is made out of. We’re printing money faster than anyone can count. Can you say Weimar? Think the printers want paid with what they are printing since they can watch the value go down as quick as they print? If I may I want to ask again the opening question, what’s it going to take to wake people up? How’s the frog holding up folks?

These words still hold up today, perhaps not quite the same urgency as then, but they still hold a lot of meaning.

"In Germany, they came first for the Communists, And I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Communist;
And then they came for the trade unionists, And I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a trade unionist;
And then they came for the Jews, And I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Jew;
And then... they came for me... And by that time there was no one left to speak up."

Living in Egypt

What does Obama and an Egyptian have in common? They both require "denial" to live. Lets explore a tributary or two on this river shall we. Oh where to start? How about with the last fiasco to come out of the House at his request, Cap and Trade. "Make no mistake: This is a jobs bill," Obama said. "We're already seeing why this is true in the clean energy investments we're making through the Recovery Act.". He is right, it is a bill that will affect many jobs. It will crush them out of existence under the weight of regulation and tax. Who cares that in Spain it killed 2 jobs for every one it made. Remember he did promise to bankrupt the coal industry during his campaign. Can't accuse him of not trying to follow through. This bill pushes solar and wind power. Sources of power that have yet to produce enough energy to pay for themselves before their working parts are past their useful life. Pundents far and wide that are behind this bill use Denmark as a shining example. What they leave out is the fact that Denmark has yet to shut down any fossil fuel plants, and has no plans to do so. The reasoning behind all the noise about "crap and tirade" is the Almighty AlGore. All wise and all knowing defender of the Earth and it's creatures. Look at the all Polar bears he has managed to save from the melting ice caps. The ice caps that have not lost total mass, just shifted their building direction. Who cares that on their own, those nutty bears have managed to increase their numbers exponentially. The man that will save us from the evil carbon menace. Carbon that has no proven effect on global temperature. The all knowing one that can't pay yet any "expert" to explain how the temperature on other planets has gone up and down at the same rate as us. Next fork in the river takes us back to the distant past. When, having to fix the errors of the despot known only as BUSH, the all mighty O forced through congress a yet to be read bill known as The Stimulus. This bill was all that stood between us and financial ruin. So naturally prior to signing it, he took the Mrs. on a date to the old home town. It was a piece of prose that could change the course of the mighty rush of industry! All industry except the one place that he chose to introduce this fine bill. Cat has yet to bring anyone back that I know of at this time. Over the past week we have heard of the great things that this bill hath wrought. Unless of course you listen to Biden that says things are worse then they thought. Damn unemployment for not listening and staying below 9% like the bill was supposed to do. Of course that wacky Biden got it all wrong and everything is rosy according to Obama. He would do nothing different, every things fine, move along, nothing to see here. Regardless of the current situation, the bulk of the money will be meted out next year. You know, when the congress that approved this are running for reelection. Forget your troubles today, it will all be fine after our great grand kids get done paying for it. The next siding we come to is one not yet explored by us. There have been many brave countries to attempt the daring trip down this rapid and rocky stream though. The river of no return, Public Health Care! Don't look behind the curtain and see that those countries are starting to try and get away from it. Who cares that a majority of Americans are against it. Forget the fact that Medicare and Medicaid are dying a slow and painful death due to mismanagement. The Obama plan is fool proof and will work regardless of the fact that it will be run by the same type of folks that run the others. Full steam ahead, damn the torpedo's! Lets just look past the fact that something like Tort reform could solve most of the cost problems with the current system. Enough of the thrilling ride down the Obama rapids for today kids. Go back to watching American Idol and let Congress and our Commander in Chief handle the heavy lifting for you. I'm sure it will all be fine.

Main Entry: en·ti·tle·ment
Pronunciation: \-ˈtī-təl-mənt\
Function: noun
Date: 1942
1 a: the state or condition of being entitled : right b: a right to benefits specified especially by law or contract
2: a government program providing benefits to members of a specified group ; also : funds supporting or distributed by such a program
3: belief that one is deserving of or entitled to certain privileges

This is a very powerful word these days. The dictionary makes it seem so clean cut, fair and proper. Of course it leaves out the source of the payment of any benefits received by a "specified group". Lets break it down shall we. At its core is the root word "entitle","to furnish with proper grounds for seeking or claiming something ". What are the proper grounds that makes the folks in DC think they have more right to our hard earned money than we do. It does not appear to be the will of the voters who clogged the switchboards in DC on Friday. "To furnish with proper grounds", so the folks in congress can just make something up? "Furnish" a reason why someone needs something? Forget the facts, ignore common sense?

1 a:(from above), the state or condition of being entitled : right. Someone is owed something. How did they earn this boon they are owed. Being owed normally implies a give and take. Right now, they will take all we can give and more. b: a right to benefits specified especially by law or contract. Shouldn't Congress take the facts and our voices into account before binding us with a new law or contract? 2: a government program providing benefits to members of a specified group ; also : funds supporting or distributed by such a program. Once again, I ask who out of the goodness of their hearts willing to give more for programs we don't want or need. 3: belief that one is deserving of or entitled to certain privileges. The "belief" that one is deserving, not the fact that one is deserving.

With the word defined, lets see what we can make out of cap and trade. Who's "entitled", what "specified group" is to receive this suddenly massive amount of money that will be available. How about those nutty Polar bears that just refuse to decrease in numbers. Maybe the makers of solar and wind power devices that won't pay for themselves until they reach the end of their useful life. How about paying for the "green jobs" that will be the result of this bill. You know the jobs that will kill 2 jobs for every 1 created(check out Spain's foray into this). Here's a thought, maybe we can fix the problem with Antarctica. The ice is receding on the East side! We must figure out how to get all that extra that's forming on the West back to the East! Total mass be damned, we must have balance! Personally, I'm not willing to pay for any of that crap. It's alright though, soon I will qualify for the other entitlements out there. Food stamps, unemployment, welfare, all the fun stuff.

We all just need to slow down

Anyone else noticing the pattern forming around all of us? Every thing in life is being done at a breakneck speed. Every issue needs to be resolved yesterday. Every law needs passed today, or more will die! We have become a nation that stands in front of the microwave tapping our feet, tired of waiting the 90 seconds for our burrito that used to take an hour. We scream at our computers that may take 5 minutes to bring up articles or quotes to back our stands on issues. Remember when that kind of research used to require a trip to the library and a few hours, maybe days? We have Al Gore and his cronies running around telling us the Earth will end if we don't fix it RIGHT NOW! Obama told us we needed the stimulus money NOW or the financial system will end. That was how long ago, and the last I knew only about 5% was in the system. Yet we were told that there wasn't even time to read it or total doom would befall all of us. Yes, Bush did the same thing to us with the Patriot Act and the original TARP. This is not a rant against the Democrats alone, we are all guilty of it. We all have allowed this nation to spin out of control. Everything is happening in so many places, so quickly, that we have lost the center. Everyone is so polarized around their own little pet projects that no one can see what effect their actions are having on others. We are all concerned about the fringe, the extras. We're worried about losing our hair while our heart and lungs are failing. Abortion, gay marriage, the global warming or cooling whichever, stem cell research all mean nothing if there is no country left to argue about these things in. What boils down to petty differences and self interest have taken the lead over substance. Our focus is spread over to broad of an area, to many distractions, with not enough time to see it all before it happens. Look to the center people. Find what will effect your family tomorrow or even today if it happens. Concentrate there first. Don't let the media and those with their own agendas guide you. Be honest, if gay marriage passes will the world stop spinning? If Roe V Wade is overturned, will you lose your job? We need to find candidates that will find the roots of what this country was founded on first, individual issues second.

Funny, I don't feel stimulated

This stimulus bill just signed by our wonderful Representatives is (insert expletive here)!!! Let me count the ways. On the most basic level (get ready for a life lesson) YOU CAN'T SPEND YOUR WAY OUT OF DEBT!! The government in it's infinite wisdom has started printing money to "beef" up the system. Guess how much that money is worth. I can't calculate it, their printing it to fast. With each dollar coming off the press, the ones in your pocket are worth less and less. Billions to rework the health care system. Wait a sec, I thought this was an economic stimulus? Money for the States. Oh yes, the ones that have over spent for years. The ones that are even now spending the money they don't have yet, on programs that they will have no funding for next fiscal year. Guess what happens next year folks. OK, enough ranting on the bill. Lets move on to the time it took to pass it. The Big O said that no bill would be passed without everyone having 5 days to look it over. Pelosi said that there would be at least 48 hours between the final version and voting. The final (pencil marks and all) version was available online for our Rep's to read at 11pm. They voted the next morning. Approx 1060 pages(pulling that number from memory)that had to be read and understood in 12 hours. You folks ever seen a bill. There's a lot of cross referencing and sub text to get through. Throw in that the reading, if done at all, was done over night. Brown from Ohio was dealing with the death of his Mother and had to be flown in to vote. Mr. Brown, I'm very sorry about your Mother. So, when did you find time to read this bill. This isn't just sour grapes folks. We all knew this bill was going to pass. Just please follow your own rules. If you say we will have 2 or 5 days to read things over to form an opinion, please keep your promises. If your going to just do whatever you want to, then just do it. Quit wasting every one's time by lying to us.

An oldie but a goody

A conservative and a liberal look at a half full glass of water. The conservative says "the glass is half gone, we have to use what we have wisely". The liberal says "there still half the water to drink, let's party". When the coffers are empty, STOP SPENDING! Enough said! Though we should find out where the first half of the water went, shouldn't we?

HAY, that's hot

How many times do you have to tell a child about the stove. You tell them, you may hold their hand close to feel the warmth. Yet time and time again, you have to stop them from touching. Then one day, when your distracted, they do it. They touch it and come crying to you with a burn. You tend to their burn, you hug them and once again try to explain. With most kids, that's the end of it. Oh, accidents happen, but for the most part they now know and won't touch it again. Now picture this. You tell Congress that raising taxes will effect jobs and the economy. They do it anyway and things start to fall apart. You say "see what happens, don't do it again" and walk away. A bit later, after putting all their minds together, they come up with a new plan. Implement it, and the economy slips again. So once again, you scold and move on. After all the times that Congress has touched this stove, isn't it time to seek professional help and quit turning our backs?

Personally, I blame Janis

When did it start? When did we become a "you owe me" nation. Some blame FDR. Some say it was Carter. Personally, I blame Janis Joplin. I think that Congress spent the 60's listening to that "long hair" music and took it a bit to literally. "Oh Lord, won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz. My friends all drive Porches, I must make amends". Sounds a bit familiar doesn't it? Well, personally, I'm happy with my little truck. I don't have any friends with Porches and wouldn't care if they did.

Pllleeaassssee stop helping

I want you to take a few seconds, sit back and think. How many times have we been told "You'll thank me later" or "You don't know it, but it's for your own good". Now think how many times it really turned out that way. Congress keeps passing bills "for our own good" that we'll supposedly thank them for later. "It's for the children", "We have to act now" are phrases we keep hearing from Washington. Guess what! We've acted already. We've spent already. I heard somewhere once that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Sound familiar? Ever hear from your Grandparents, "I used to walk uphill, in the 3' of snow, aginst the wind, both ways to school. And I was thankful". Sometimes it's good to be thankful.

I hope they can make it

Those poor people on capital hill. Life for them must be so tough. Trying to eek out a living at only $169,300.00 . Can you imagine the shame they must live with. 2.8% for a raise, what were they thinking. After a long day of figuring out how to make CEO's work for a buck, how can they relax knowing that's all they have to support their families. Let's not mention what the snobs at the club must say. We need to get Sally Struthers to start a help line right away.

You start first

How about this stupid idea. Take Oprah's, Tom Hanks, Bruce Springsteen and all the other "stars" incomes and toss it in a pot. Mix well. Then give them all back a middle income wage. Take the rest and spread it out. Just imagine how many people we could bring up to middle income. Think any of them would go for it???? They all want to share the wealth, let them. They do it, I'll do it. Wait a sec, I'm already making a middle income wage! I guess all I have to do is pay all the extra taxes they support to "fix" things.

Ohh, Ohh, pick me

Can I be next please. Cost of living is going up. Their talking a pay cut at my work and raising the co-pays for insurance. I'm losing A LOT OF MONEY EVERY DAY, I could go bankrupt soon. Doesn't that qualify me for one of them there bail outs? Every one's doing it, and yes I would jump off a bridge if every body's doing it. Sorry Mom, but we're talking TRILLIONS here! It's not like the we're talking real money here. Real money is worth something, and at the rate their printing it off the paper it's printed on is its only value. Just bleach it out, a few staples, and presto! A wonderful note pad to write down what your going to do first when(and if) the dollar is worth something again.

Global what??????

Come on people, it's cold outside. When are the fanatics going to stop trying to tell us that the world is going to end tomorrow. I can be persuaded to change my mind if they can just answer one question for me. Why are the rest of the planets warming too? How is my SUV causing Mars to change? Could it be something with the sun? I'm not a scientist, and I didn't even stay at a Holiday Inn last night, but I don't see it happening. I also remember from school(yes public school). There have been many ice ages. Can you guess what happens after an ice age. When was the last one? Could we be at the apex of the temp range before we start back down? I doubt that to many remember when Al Gore told us that this past October was the warmest on record. There was a big headline. That was followed by a small paragraph weeks later on the last page about how they accidentally compared October's temps to September the year before. I won't even mention all the scientists that have jumped ship lately. Yes we do need to clean this planet up. Yes we should work on new sources of energy. We just need to stop throwing countless billions at it every year right now.

Proud to announce

The Ohio Dept of Transportation is proud to announce the endowment of $300,000.00 for a mural on Rt 24. That's not a typo, $300,000.00. This money came from the Transportation bill your Rep's signed into action. Aren't we proud. This happened around October, you remember, during the start of the bailout frenzy. I was told in an email from ODOT that we should be proud we got the money instead of someone else. Sorry Southern Iowa, no decorative shrubs for your highway. Eastern Mississippi, no statue honoring the creator of the largest ball of twine. I'm sure you've all seen the nifty things States put along highways. Ever wonder where the money came from? Your Tax Dollars. Think about it the next time your dodging a pothole, or a road is closed because "there's no money"
SAFETEA-LU transportation bill

It starts with us

I'm talking to the 8 in 10 that did not buy a house that we couldn't afford. The 90 some percent that hold a job. The people that dutifully pay our taxes. The core of this country, the under represented. We have to long sat back and picked the lesser of 2 evils. We need to find candidates that will support us, not use us. Politician's have to long counted on our silence. We "go along" with to much because we think it doesn't effect us. It does! Look at your property taxes, sales taxes, income taxes. Vote, everytime. Even if you just get a ballot and leave a race blank, it still counts. They see it, and they know they are losing support. They know that next election there could be someone elses name in their slot because the people are not happy. Ignore the "buzz words", look past them and to the core of what they are saying. If you agree, fine, wonderful, it's your choice. If you see empty promises, look at the next name on the ballot. Check them out, and do what you feel you have to do. Just be ready to back up your choice with facts, not "feelings".

Daily paper

When did we allow the Media to start telling us what the news should be. It's one thing to have an agenda, but to hide it under the cover of "fair and balanced coverage" is a bit different. Anyone willing to step back and look can find daily examples of bias in a few moments on line. Now there's talk of bringing the Fairness Doctrine back. What's the matter National News, afraid of a few Talk Radio hosts pointing out a few forgotten tidbits you may have overlooked? Admit what you stand for and let the ratings sort it out.

Presidential primary

Is anyone else tired of the endless year it takes to get through the Presidential primary season? Wouldn't it save time and money if the primaries were set up on a revolving schedule with the nation divided in quarters? Start in the NE in March. May in the SW. July in the SW and Sept in the NW. The next time it starts a quarter turn clockwise and so on. It would give the candidates only one section of the country to canvas at a time and 2 months to do it in. No more traveling countless times across country unless there was a function they chose to attend. More for us common folks, there would be less time needed for political adds in any given area until the final 2 make their run. It would also give more of a chance for any given candidate to make it longer in the race without the stigma of losing Iowa or NH hounding them.

Line item VETO

Isn't it about time for Congress to finally pass a line item VETO. It would hold those responsible for wasting our money accountable. If Congress sends a bill to the President with "pork" in it, he can remove it without being accused of being against anything. You all know as well as I do that Congress adds their own pet projects to important bills. If the President uses his VETO, he is accused of hating children, or not caring about disaster relief somewhere. The line item would stop a lot of wasted money, or at least put the focus directly where it belongs.

Hello all that venture into the unknown. The unknown in this case is when the "People of Smart" stopped caring to do a bit of looking before they jump. Not that that includes everyone, just a majority at the time of this posting. I am a Republican, a true Republican. You know, the Republican's that have been sorley dissipointed since the passing of Reagen. I personally don't care who anyone voted for. If your an Obama supporter, GREAT, WONDERFUL, GLAD TO HEAR IT. Just tell me why. Please leave the "buzz" words out please. I want facts, issues, numbers. If your a fellow Republican, please tell me how we can get our party back. Attacks will not be tolerated from any side. Anyone looking for an online fight will be ignored. I just want to open a discussion that will hopefully get our Country on track. Thank you.
